The Giant Pacific Octopus is an amazing creature. This painting celebrates the wit and beauty of the elusive octopus -- which only lives about 4 years. Despite living mostly solitary lives, they are remarkably intelligent -- and even use tools! If they lived in groups and passed on their knowledge, they would rule the world!
This painting is a mixed media collage using glass bead gel, shimmer powders, and hand-painted paper. There is sheet music, news articles about octopuses, the health of the oceans, and seafood recipes as the base layer. This painting won 3rd place in the annual Village Choice Show in Studio 23, the Southwestern Artists Association in January 2022.
