The Western Tiger Swallowtail is a dramatic visitor to the garden! I saw this beauty at the Butterfly Farms in Encinitas, CA and knew I had to capture it in paper...(and since that encounter, I've seen several stop by our bougainvillea in our backyard!)
To create this painting, I hand-painted, printed and embellished found papers that are typical to our region: local maps, sheet music about surfing, Spanish and Japanese language newsprint, pages from old college textbooks and shopping lists.
